Masterpiece London Art Fair: the unmissable art fair
Federico Chiale, 11-09-2018
The Masterpiece London Art Fair art fair, which saw the Chiale Fine Art gallery participate for the sixth year, ended about a month ago. This edition was characterized by an increase in exhibitors of 'classical art': infact, there was a strong return to collecting ancient art, a sign that buyers return to invest in the most prized period objects. Our gallery was present at the fair with a wide range of collectible objects that spanned the various artistic centuries: we presented a stucco from Donatello's workshop depicting a Madonna with Child (1470), a limestone sculpture representing a Saint Sebastian (1510 ), a fireplace of Giuseppe Maria Bonzanigo that belonged to Luigi XVI and Maria Antonietta (1776) and many other works of museum quality. The influx of visitors was around 50,000 people, including museum directors, American, Russian, Chinese and European collectors, as well as some Italian buyers. There are also some famous celebrities from the world of art collectors like Mike Jagger, Bob Geldof, Stella McCartney and many other VIPs. The Masterpiece period also coincided with the Master Art Week organized by London art galleries and with auctions held at Christie's and Sotheby's. At Sotheby's a wooden micro-sculpture by Giuseppe Maria Bonzanigo was sold, an artist present among the works proposed in the Chiale Fine Art collection.
